October 28, 2015 The Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., District II and Central Region met at 11:00 October 28, 2015 at Cedar Ridge Winery for a tour, lunch and meeting President Fran Stueck called the meeting to order at 11:50am.

Union alum Heckroth named to 2015 Iowa Collegiate Honor Band

Andrew Heckroth, a Union graduate from Dysart, was selected for the 2015 Iowa Collegiate Honor Band. The history major will perform with the band Friday, Nov.

CP Historical Society ‘Goes to Vietnam’ For Annual Potluck

The Center Point Historical Society’s annual community harvest potluck was Oct. 29 at the Center Point dentistry office basement. Members and neighbors enjoyed a travel slide show by Jon Sholes on his recent trip to Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

On October 25, 2015, Bethlehem Lutheran Church presented a gift of $102.00 to the Benton County Veterans Affairs.  The Veterans Affairs office gives general assistance to veterans from our county who need temporary help.

The Center Point Friends of the Library book and fabric sale in September gave a big boost to Friends’ spirits and bank account. The sale made more than $1500.

Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., District II and Central Region met at 11:15 September 23, 2015 at the Ray House in Vinton for a covered dish dinner with speaker Bob Moen giving program on the history of Ray House and a tour of the house.
